Grandma Sweaters & Grandpa Loafers

Sweater | Forever 21 / Jeans | Forever 21 / Loafers | H&M

I'm back and here I am, rocking the total grandpa look, but I managed to make it work. This entire look is completely inexpensive, but the quality is all there. I''ll be honest, I don't remember how much any of these items costed, but I'm almost positive that this entire look was $100 or less. I'll be brutally honest. Forever 21 and H&M are the stores that I need to spend extra time in because a lot of the time, I find that quality isn't there. But there are a few great quality pieces for a very inexpensive price if you look hard enough! And I've managed to find a great knit sweater, perfect boyfriend jeans, and genuine leather loafers.

There's something about turtle necks that make me look like a grandma. To lessen my grandma features a little bit, I tend to tuck my hair into my collar to try and look a little more high fashion. A high fashion grandma, if you will. Now loafers! Total grandpa loafers, I know. But that pointed-toe takes me from grandpa to- (kind of) dapper and chic? At least that's what I would say.

I still do want to remember my actual age is 21 years old, so I realized if I wore plain black jeans, I might just look depressed. So to edge it out a little bit, some destroyed boyfriend jeans did the trick. Nothing says edgy like rips everywhere!

And together, I present to you, my grandma look.

SPRING BREAK WEAR

The best thing about this outfit (speaking for myself only) is that it is almost completely thrifted! The shirt, the jacket, and the shorts are all thrifted. My boots are from Free People, more of an investment piece at around $200. The quality is there, so trust. They are definitely worth the money. I put this quick look together for a collaboration with College Fashionista x MTV for a Spring Break article. College Fashionista and MTV wanted to know how I would dress for Spring Break traveling as well as my three must-haves in my bag for traveling. I've repeated this many times before, but the most important thing in an outfit to me is comfort. Who wants to be traveling in an uncomfortable outfit anyway? It's easy to travel in a comfortable outfit while still looking stylish and put together. I just threw on a white t-shirt and vintage denim blue jeans! I've been feeling very 90's lately so I decided to go double denim and throw on this thrifted denim jacket on top for when it gets chilly. And I always find that a pair of nice ass shoes will always turn a simple outfit fab.

My three most important travel items I'll need in my bag are:
1. A portable charger!
2. Sunglasses
3. Travel size perfume

Those are the three most reached for things while I've been traveling. Other than my phone and headphones. Oh. Headphones. I might have to rethink my travel essentials!!!

Ohh Yeah

What I'm Wearing: Top | Forever 21 // Jeans | Zara // Boots | Zara

I've been channeling my inner Chiara Ferragni from The Blonde Salad. When I saw these jeans in the store, I instantly thought of Chiara mixed with a little bit of Moschino. I'm not one to wear a lot of sparkles, but that doesn't mean I don't love them. Chiara is known for the dazzling sparkles in her collection, mostly seen in her (to die for) shoes and her phone cases. The sparkling emoji patches on the jeans reminded me of something Chiara would put on one of her bags or shoes, or maybe even wear herself. And if I wasn't attracted to these jeans already because of their classic mom fit, the sparkling patches are emojis of burgers, ice cream, and a shake. Honestly me.

I wasn't so sure about the huge 'Ohh Yeah' screaming on my leg, but I've learned the love the loudness since it really matched the whole look of the jeans anyway. If you take a closer look at my pockets, they're embroidered with 'I AM OK' which pretty much sums up my every day response when someone asks, "How are you today?"

My favorite part of these jeans would have to be right at the very cuff. The block lettered 'WORK.' I'll tell you a secret though. It actually says "WORK IT," but since I'm so short, I have to roll up my jeans and cover the 'IT' in 'WORK IT.' But to be quite honest, I prefer just 'WORK' anyway. I'm sure Rihanna would agree. On a casual day, I'd probably just style these jeans with a pair of plain white sneakers, but since I was feeling quite diva-ish, I decided to throw on my shiny ombre heel boots, of course inspired by Dior. Ya girl is trying to finish college so I won't be able to afford Dior boots any time soon, so these will do.

There's still hope for my future though. ;-)
See you in my next one!
XO,
Dan
